As part of the Next Generation Water Summit, a special day of local waterwise gardening workshops is happening on June 7—and everyone who attends will be entered to win a rain barrel!

The day kicks off from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. with a self-guided tour of the new Waterwise Garden at 801 W San Mateo, right in front of the Public Utilities building. The garden features native plants and pollinator-friendly landscaping, and staff and community partners will be on hand to answer questions and share tips. There will be free giveaways like hose shut-off nozzles, native seeds, buckets, water bottle stickers, and planting guides to help you get started with waterwise practices at home.

Then, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., head over to The Firebird for a hands-on drip irrigation workshop led by their expert staff. You’ll learn how to install and maintain your own drip system—a smart and efficient way to water your garden in Santa Fe’s dry climate. Participants will also receive a free guide to drip irrigation to take home.

Finally, from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m., Plants of the Southwest will host a workshop focused on choosing the right trees and plants for our region’s changing climate. Attendees will receive a Recommended Trees Guide, a Native Plant Guide, and a 10% discount for taking part in the session.

It’s a full day of learning, resources, and expert advice—perfect for anyone looking to create a more sustainable garden in Santa Fe.
